Objective

The purpose of this clinical study was to determine the effectiveness of non-ablative facial rejuvenation process using Red LED therapy and Q-switched pulsed YAG laser assisted with carbon suspended lotion, focusing on melasma reducing.

Materials and Methods

32 human subjects ,skin types _to_, Ages 30ユs to 50ユs with melasma were treated with or without two to five LED and Laser sessions at our clinic, respectively.
Cosmetic skin rejuvenation was accomplished using a wavelength of 1064 nm, fluence of 1.8 to 2.3J/cm2, a pulse duration of 5nm (Q-switch), a pulse repetition rate of 10 Hz and fixed beam size of 7mm and 17min red LED phototherapy.
The treatment involved applying carbon suspended lotion to the skin surface and irradiating Nd:YAG laser full face with Q-switch mode. After then 17min Red LED phototherapy was done. All patients were used Internal medicine (250mg of Tranexamic acid and 1000mg of Ascorbic acid, tree times a day) and Topical medicine (0.1%Tretinoin and 4% Hydroquinone, twice per day) Treatment sites were evaluated regarding skin texture, spotty pigment and melasma at base line, respectively.

Results

At 2 months follow-up the investigators reported improvement in skin texture spotty pigment and melasma compared to base line.

Conclusions

Topical carbon suspension assisted Nd:YAG laser and Red LED phototherapy made offers a safe cosmetic method of improving skin texture, especially melasma reducing than without phototherapy.
