The other day, I tried electric motor surfing at Shonan Beach for the first time.
The board is controlled by a throttle in your left hand. As you squeeze the accelerator and build up speed, the board lifts onto the surface and you take off. It was surprisingly fun.
I managed to get to my feet and ride, but I soon realized that I need to shift my weight a little farther forward to gain more speed.
I’ve put on some weight since I was younger, and I can no longer ride a traditional shortboard. But this might just be the way back onto the water.
Now I’d like to spend a little more time training my cerebellum—or, in other words, letting my body learn the movements until they become second nature.
