Today’s medical and aesthetic markets are overflowing with cutting-edge technologies claiming to deliver “regeneration.”
Yet I would like to raise one essential question:
Are these approaches truly regenerating from the level of structure itself?
In many cases, the act of introducing cells or biological factors into the body is confused with the rebuilding of functional tissue.
But these are entirely different dimensions of biology.
Consider human skin, for example.
Skin is never merely a collection of cells.
It contains exquisitely organized spatial architecture, a continuously ongoing temporal process of renewal, and highly specialized microenvironments — niches — that properly nurture cells.
Ignoring these complex systems and simply injecting cells or biological components is not, in the strict sense, true regeneration.
At best, it is temporary supplementation.
