The soft iron irons and putter I ordered last year through Japan’s furusato nozei program from Fujimoto Gikō in Ichikawa, Hyogo have finally arrived!
They truly represent the pinnacle of cast iron craftsmanship—rooted in techniques once used to forge Japanese swords. I had the “Fujimoto” signature changed to the version used for overseas markets, and the clubface refinished in matte black.
I can’t wait to put them into play. There’s something special about using clubs made by a manufacturer that shares your own name. In Japan, I suppose that leaves names like Miura and Honma—haha.
