紅茶とサマートリュフ。大人のための贈り物
本日、TWG Teaと「よねむらサマートリュフクッキー」をいただきました。
金色のTWG Teaの箱と、その上に重ねられた京都・よねむらのクッキー。
見た瞬間から、これは普通のお茶菓子の組み合わせではないな、と思います。
よねむらサマートリュフクッキーは、イタリア産のサマートリュフを生地に練り込み、一枚ずつ丁寧に焼き上げたもの。
「甘」はバニラビーンズとトリュフ、「辛」はチーズのコクと塩気を合わせた二種類で、シャンパンやワインにもよく合うそうです。

文字にすると少し意外ですが、料理の世界では、この意外性こそが記憶に残ります。
甘いだけでは終わらない。香り、塩味、余韻まで含めて楽しむ、まさに大人のクッキーです。
薄く切られた生地は、一枚ずつ包丁でカットされているとのこと。
缶を開けた瞬間の香りと、繊細な歯触りまで計算されているそうです。
そして合わせるのは、シンガポールのTWG Tea。
外来の合間に紅茶を淹れ、サマートリュフの香りを楽しむ。
わずか十分ほどでも、クリニックの午後が少しだけ豊かになります。

Tea and Summer Truffles — A Gift for Grown-Ups
Today, I received two delightful gifts: a selection of TWG Tea and a tin of Yonemura Summer Truffle Cookies.
The moment I saw the elegant gold box of TWG Tea topped with the beautifully packaged cookies from Kyoto’s Yonemura, I knew this was no ordinary pairing for afternoon tea.
Yonemura’s Summer Truffle Cookies are crafted with Italian summer truffles kneaded directly into the dough and baked one by one with meticulous care. The assortment comes in two varieties: a sweet version combining fragrant vanilla beans with truffles, and a savory one featuring rich cheese and a touch of salt. They are said to pair beautifully not only with tea, but also with champagne and wine.

It may sound unexpected at first, but in the culinary world, it is often these unexpected combinations that leave the deepest impression. These are not simply sweet treats. They invite you to appreciate layers of aroma, subtle salinity, and a lingering finish—a cookie created unmistakably for an adult palate.
I also learned that each cookie is cut by hand before baking, producing exceptionally thin, delicate pieces. Even the aroma released when the tin is opened and the refined texture on the palate have been carefully considered.
